How to Care for Your Skin Before and After Waxing

The benefits of a meticulous waxing routine are numerous, leading to softer, smoother, and more radiant skin.

Although waxing is a popular hair removal method for many, the importance of preparation and post-wax care, especially for at-home treatments, is often underestimated. Dive into the key advantages of adopting a natural wax care routine for hair-free and, importantly, side-effect-free skin.

Despite its frequency, waxing is naturally abrasive to the skin. Our body grows hair to shield certain areas, stripping these follicles can harm the skin's surface. Waxing weakens the hair bulb, causing hair to regrow more slowly and less thickly. However, this also exposes pores, heightening infection risk. This can lead to redness, pimples, inflammation, and ingrown hairs on delicate skin.

Waxing might be a better choice for some, and selecting a hair removal method remains a personal preference. If you opt for waxing, learn how to mitigate irritation pre and post-treatment.

Pre-wax Care

For the Body: A warm bath or shower isn't merely relaxing—it's also the perfect pre-waxing regimen. By softening and cleaning the skin, it ensures minimal irritation. Our Hair and Body Wash nurtures your skin with the organic benefits of aloe vera and rosehip seed oil. Conclude with our deeply hydrating Body Butter to ensure your skin is wax-ready.

For the Face:

  1. Apply a pre-wax cleanser to prepare your skin before waxing.

  2. Seal in added moisture, which relaxes the skin before waxing, ensuring a more seamless removal.

  3. End with a moisturizer for thorough skin nourishment before wax application.

Top Tip: Cease retinoids at least 48 hours before waxing to avoid exposing sensitive skin cells, heightening the risk of skin damage.

Post-wax Care

For the Body: For aftercare, choose products with organic, mild ingredients for the initial 48 hours. Aloe vera gel, known for its calming properties, is crucial post-wax. Chill the gel in the fridge before use for an extra refreshing feel.

After two days, you can gradually reincorporate exfoliation into your regimen. It provides gentle exfoliation without drying out your skin.

Lastly, treat your skin with after-wax moisturizers like Body Butter or Body Lotion. Hold off on thicker formulas initially to prevent pore blockage. After a couple of days, these richer products will replenish essential moisture.

For the Face: Post-wax care is paramount, from eyebrows to the upper lip. Our Soothing Cleansing Milk, enriched with Vitamin E and sunflower oil, diminishes redness, while our Soothing Toner, containing chamomile extract, soothes even the most sensitive zones.

Like with body care, reintroduce exfoliation to your facial routine after 48 hours.

Top Tip: Steer clear of heat sources for 1-2 days post-waxing. This includes sweating, hot water, or exposure to high temperatures. Bacteria from excessive heat can enter open pores, leading to skin irritation.
